The most awaited weekend on the BMX calendar has come and gone, leaving behind unforgettable memories and next-level riding. The East Meets West festival on August 31st and September 1st brought riders, friends, and good vibes together at the seaside for two days of pure BMX bliss.
This year’s format kept things fresh and exciting:
- Saturday – Bowl Contest: Flow, speed, and creative lines. This time there were AM and PRO categories for both days. Riders choose their preferred category.
- Sunday – Street Contest: Street got a little tweaked this year with two best-line attempts and a one-trick showdown (3 tries). The scoring split is 50/50 between lines and last tricks.
What made it really special was the new banana box that we built just before the event. It took a pivotal role in both the bowl jam (as a curved wall ride) and the street jam (as a banana jump).
Winners walked away with prizes from Able BMX Co., Skilldash, and a few surprise goodies like the Skilldash TOKAROTO sticker sheet.
As always, East Meets West wasn’t just about riding but was about the the other aspects that enriches our culture and the experiences that come with it.
Attendees enjoyed an outdoor bmx photo exhibition in the woods, showcasing the work of Bulgarian photographer Dimitar "Brothera" Ivanov that captured timeless moments and tricks throughout the history of the local scene.
Despite the heavy rain that poured over the area, we also threw a wild beach party with the most committed party animals. We made sure the organisation is in the hands of the right people.
This year, Skilldash BMX partnered with OneUp BMX Shop to make it all happen, keeping the focus on what makes BMX so special—community. Whether you came to ride, chill, party, have a barbecue or just soak up the atmosphere, this event had something for everyone.
